Many of Pinto’s collections are inspired by what brought the founder, Alberto Pinto, joy – be it furniture, nature or the traditional Japanese art celebrated in the Vieux Kyoto line. Each piece reinterprets Japanese ink paintings (otherwise known as sumi-e) through intricate chromolithography on Limoges porcelain. Motifs vary by design, but often reference the Buddhist temples, shrines and gardens of Kyoto.

The late Alberto Pinto is a legendary figure in the world of art and design, celebrated for his embrace of different cultures and eclecticism. At the beginning of his career, he worked with notable industry names – such as David Hicks and Luis Barragán – until he felt ready to take on a personal project in the 1960s, and what better than the design of his own apartment? Such rich heritage is honoured today in Pinto's beautiful collections. Original hand-painted designs echo the aesthetic of the founder while celebrating fine materials and exceptional craft.
