Story

Jaejin Choi takes a slow approach to design that champions quality materials and thoughtful concepts. See it come to life in this lunch spoon and chopstick set; each piece is handcrafted from a single piece of birch and finished with natural beeswax. Note the unique colors and grains of each piece—details that celebrate the material in its rawest form.

Maker

Based in Gyeongsan, South Korea, real-life tree studio Jaejin Choi creates handcrafted wooden items that are thoughtful and purposeful, but also a delight to see and hold. Each kitchen utensil is hand-carved using chisels and carefully chipped into smooth, minimalist forms that’ll make light work of cooking and serving. They’re finished with small-but-significant details that are added with functionality in mind, like hand-chiselled patterns and natural beeswax applications – something that helps to enhance the unique grain and characteristics of each wood.
