Caped silhouettes have featured in Isa Arfen’s collections long before they became the sole focus, as founder Serafina Sama has always found joy in their comfort and freedom of movement. Today, her wonderfully wearable pieces form the backbone of wardrobes everywhere. This striped cape is handcrafted in pure lambswool – it’s one you may recognize from her inaugural Edition 01.
Italian-born Serafina Sama, founder of Isa Arfen, pressed pause on production in 2019 so she could rewrite her design rulebook. Setting a seasonal approach aside, she returned in late 2023 with a singular caped proposal steeped in sustainability. Her collections, while alike in silhouette, differ greatly in fabrication, colourway and character – while some are collegiate-inspired, others are palate-cleaning classics. Devotees of Isa Arfen, an anagram of Serafina, rejoice in her tightly edited collections crafted in a three-gauge knit that consists of a mix of Scottish-spun lambswool yarn and cashmere.
