Introduced to ceramics at the curious age of 10 by her mother, Hana Karim grew up in a small Slovenian town with what she calls a “complete infatuation” for clay. By 2016, that passion had found a permanent home in her Ljubljana studio, which she shares with her partner, Rasfan. Her practice is rooted in the material’s dialogue with nature—formed by the four elements, refined by the human hand—and expressed through hand-built stoneware plates, bowls and platters that feel almost painterly, like still life in three dimensions. While her mother instilled the love of clay; her father, a painter, sharpened her eye for color.
