From around the mid-17th century, apothecary jars were detailed with inscriptions that would bear Latin abbreviations of their contents. Deciphering them provides an insight into the vast array of ingredients that would have been stored within, such as ’paraff molle’ for petroleum jelly and ‘pulv amyli’ for rubbing ointment. Each vessel in this set secures with a dome-like lid. Due to their age, they are intended for decorative use only.
