A few years ago, Silvia Furmanovich expanded her collection of wearable art to include home-design objects such as this small tray. She collaborates with craftspeople from across the globe, paying special attention to the skills and materials from her native Brazil – for example, her fine marquetry is carried out by an Amazonian tribe, while fallen wood and bark are often retrieved from forest floors.

Silvia Furmanovich was born in São Paulo, Brazil, to a line of Italian goldsmiths – including her father, who taught her the importance of craftsmanship from a young age. Her journey began with fine jewellery, using vibrant colours, unusual materials and wood marquetry to breathe life into each one-of-a-kind jewel. So, when she cast her creative alchemy to the home, she already had a wealth of knowledge and contacts to drive it forward. Each creation combines her attention to detail with her love for innovative craft stories.
