Rachel Bower is a willow basket maker based in Angus, Scotland. Her strong and functional creations are inspired by the memories and meanings that objects can hold, each one ready and waiting to amass its own story as time goes by. This Celtic Knot tray is hand-woven with Dicky Meadows willow – a soft-toned green variety that’s traditionally grown for finer baskets due to its strong, slender nature. Thanks to its lightweight open weave, it’s endlessly versatile; why not use it to serve bread at the kitchen table, or as a decorative wall piece when not in use?

Moved by the rhythmic nature of basketry, Rachel Bower applies an experimental approach to her craft, in which colour and lines form the basis of her functional willow basket designs. The award-winning weaver records ideas in sketchbooks and brings each basket to life through small batch production in Angus, North East Scotland, maintaining the unique, one-off nature of each distinctive piece.
