Lucas Castex builds on his collection of wooden wonders with this only-at-ABASK stool, designed for our first physical and international event at Salon Art + Design 2023 in NYC. On each layer, you’ll find intricate patterns hand carved by the self-taught maker, who has a range of blades in his Les Landes studio that he loves to experiment with. To achieve its striking black finish, Castex torches the wood with fire – a technique that brings out its natural character and shade.

Lucas Castex
Interior designer and craftsman, Lucas Castex, is a self-taught woodworker who carves up unique, rustic creations - including our exclusive oiled walnut serving boards - from his forest-lined Les Landes studio in France. His sculptural, soul-led collections are characterised by repetitive patterns and original burnt wooden textures which contribute to his playful and modern design aesthetic.
