Ash-Glazed Ceramic Serving Platter

This platter was wheel-thrown using an iron-rich clay, so it has a beautiful texture. It’s unglazed with a slightly metallic sheen and a bumpy feel that calls to mind the surface of the moon. Best suited to serving drier foods like bread, pastries or hard fruits.

On his travels to Minnesota, Jonathan Wade felt connected to the folk art pottery reinterpretations of Japanese Mingei.
