Flavio Poli—former artistic director of Seguso Vetri d’Arte—gave the sommerso technique a new lease on life in the 1950s, using it to create a layered, multicolored effect. The method sees overlapping layers of transparent glass melded through a heating process and immersed in pots of molten colored glass. The result, which won Flavio Poli many an award and accolade, gives the illusion that fluid has been trapped within. Please note, this item is a truly original vintage piece with slight imperfections and distinctive characteristics that add to its charm and celebrate its unique history.
