Zsuzsanna Nyul’s childhood summers at her grandparents’ house exposed her to traditional Hungarian stoneware, and she recalls feeling stirred by its honest naivety. It wasn’t until she moved to the UK – for her fine art studies at Oxford – that she referenced it, leading to the launch of her eponymous line in 2012. She created her first pieces from a garden shed in the Cotswolds, before she invested in a kiln. Today, she resides in Lake Balaton, Hungary, where she works alongside local artisans to make eclectic tableware and linen collections by hand.
