Terrafirma Ceramics dates back to 1980 when Ellen Evans developed her own way of producing handmade American Art Pottery. Working from her studio in the heart of New York City, she shapes each piece by hand and pours several layers of porcelain on the top surface to create a clean, white background. This is then painted through textiles such as lace – creating intricate patterns – and fired to the extreme. Her artistic creations are signed, dated and truly one-of-a-kind, with a delicate, whimsical nature that can be recognised in an instant.
