Story

Perla Valtierra has a team of 20 artisans who produce hand-thrown ceramics and slip-case editions in Bajío, Mexico. The large green Ribette candlestick holder is hand turned by Don Jesus Torres, and fired at 1200° using Bajío earthenware and oxide glazing. Due to the unique glaze, some inconsistencies in finish may occur.

Based in Mexico City, Perla Valtierra’s hand-made ceramics transport you back in time, where every piece connects the maker and the user. Valtierra’s team of 20 artisans use the teachings of philosopher Soetsu Yanagui to create hand-thrown ceramics and slip-case editions in Bajío, Mexico. The ‘aesthete’ practices traditional pottery across the globe, perfecting her Bajío earthenware and oxide glazing techniques.
