Osanna Visconti

Chiodo Hand-Cast Bronze Letter Opener

Osanna Visconti’s Chiodo letter opener – which translates from Italian to ‘nail’ – is designed and crafted by the hands of Visconti herself. From her foundry in Milan, she utilises her signature lost-wax casting technique to carefully mould the natural bronze into place until she reaches her desired result.

Osanna Visconti

Schooled by accomplished artists in Rome, Osanna Visconti is an expert in the millennia-old “lost wax casting” technique. She hand-carves wax forms, casts them in plaster, then melts away the wax — as seen in this black-patinated bronze candle holder.
