1910s English North Country Quilt

There’s a fine art to tracking down an antique quilt, and we’re delighted to welcome a selection of high-quality designs from an established specialist. This hand-quilted piece is sourced from the 1910s with a unique design that was originally designed by George Gardiner of Allenheads from the 1870s onwards, who shared his teachings with several apprentices – including the talented Elizabeth Sanderson. His signature aesthetic consists of central medallions and swag borders, characteristics that were mainly found on quilts in the north-east region of the UK, especially County Durham and Northumberland. Please note, this antique piece is 100+ years old and may show signs of use consistent with its age.
