Conceptualized by London-based interior designer Rita Konig, the Belles Rives collection by The Lacquer Company is made up of a selection of home-design accessories for bringing color and character to your space. This tray, which is lovingly lacquered by experts in the son mai technique, is surrounded by a playful wave that gently undulates along its surface. Handmade lacquer is very delicate and may be scratched or marred; use a soft, damp cloth to clean it and gently apply a car wax to restore the finish.

James Lowther’s colour-rich accessories shine a light on the ancient art of Vietnamese lacquer painting. First, base layers of Sinh are applied to protect and strengthen the wood, then natural lacquer is mixed with fine ground mountain rock, alluvium soil and cashew nut shell oil before being smoothed and wet-sanded. Finally, the colour is applied and ready for meticulous hand-painting.
