Johanne Coker found her way back to clay through memory. While living in Singapore, she was reminded of the pottery lessons she loved as a child and sought out a local teacher, eventually finding celebrated ceramic artist Lim Meng Khuang on the edge of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Years of learning followed, first in Singapore, then London, before she co-founded Hive Ceramic Studio in 2024. Today, porcelain is at the heart of her practice. Hand-thrown on the wheel, her vessels are glazed, polished, or left beautifully bare, allowing the material to speak in its own measured voice.
