France-based Maison Pichon Uzès and its talented artisans make fine earthenware by hand, a legacy that traces back eight generations to 1802. Each collection highlights the maker’s eye for detail, as seen in the Louis XVI series. These hand-shaped bowls from the line are complete with octagonal edges and embossed beaded borders inspired by a string of pearls. Their versatility is endless, slotting into classic or contemporary settings with ease. Due to the handmade nature of each piece, irregularities in finish may occur.

Maison Pichon Uzès is an eighth-generation maker based in Uzès, France – as has been the case since its founding in 1802. It’s loved for its intricately braided ceramic baskets that take up to a month to complete, where several hours of handling and drying result in wonderful centrepieces, fruit bowls or dried flower baskets for the home. But basketry isn’t the only signature; mixed earthenware also has a rich history for the artisan. During the 1950s, its products were made from porous clay from the Uzès region and glazed in colours intrinsically linked to the South of France, like olive green and Provence yellow. Today, the palette has expanded, but the artistic element of each creation remains.
