For Alya Tannous, the table is a stage, and hand-blown glassware deserves a starring role. Drawing on a background in theater and literature, she creates tabletop objects filled with color, character, and quiet drama. Her fascination with glass began on a glassblowing trip through Egypt alongside her mother, interior designer Lina Tannous, and has since evolved into a collection of flame-worked borosilicate designs. London-born, Syro-Lebanese, and "Parisian at heart," Tannous transforms a material more commonly associated with scientific laboratories into joyful objects for everyday rituals. The precision of flame-working allows for crisp details and expressive forms, resulting in glassware as practical as it is playful, and always ready to steal the scene.
