Raffaella Molin

Venice-born Raffaella Molin moved to London in 1995 to study fashion, but it wasn’t long until her attention turned to clay. From her studio, she utilises traditional hand-building methods such as coiling, pinching and slab building, letting the quality of the material inspire the making formula – for example, she finds the texture of black clay to enhance more playful and daring designs. For inspiration, she looks to discarded objects, tribal art and overseas travel, while the unique silhouettes are guided by her background in fashion, influenced by the shapes and curves of the human form.
