Italian-born Giorgio Facchini found his calling young, apprenticing as a goldsmith from age ten. As his artistic inclinations grew, he studied with sculptor Edgardo Mannucci and began to create both abstract sculpture and unique modernist, artist jewelry which incorporated classic goldsmithing with space age designs. His architectural pieces explored space and light, while his 1969 collection revealed his enduring interest in kinetic, spatial and futuristic elements, catching the eye of Pierre Cardin.
