Story

Designed by Rita Konig and handmade by experts in the Son Mai technique, the lidded ice bucket has a bold, clean look that bridges mid-century modern and contemporary design. The bottle-green version, buffed to a brilliant gloss and insulated with a stainless-steel liner, brings pizzazz to the bar or kitchen. Handmade lacquer is very delicate and may be scratched or marred; use a soft, damp cloth to clean it and gently apply a car wax to restore the finish.

Maker

James Lowther’s colour-rich accessories shine a light on the ancient art of Vietnamese lacquer painting. First, base layers of Sinh are applied to protect and strengthen the wood, then natural lacquer is mixed with fine ground mountain rock, alluvium soil and cashew nut shell oil before being smoothed and wet-sanded. Finally, the colour is applied and ready for meticulous hand-painting.
