Story

Only the most delicate natural linens go into placemats by Los Encajeros. Basque lace-makers create them at the family workshop in Bilbao, embroidering each linen mat by hand with meticulous detail and finishing with a traditional scalloped edge. These Zurbano placemats come in deep navy, in sets of four.

Maker

The fabric is the thing at this fourth-generation lace-maker. Established in Bilbao to manufacture lace veils, the atelier now focuses on luxury tableware distinguished by fine needlework and subtle changes in colour. Seamstresses toil over minute details, working linen into creations as delicate as lingerie with scallop edges and traditional flourishes.
