Meet the Maker:

Casarialto

Catherine Urban founded Casarialto in 2008 with a vision to create unique, never-seen-before Murano glassware. Her approach starts with a sketchbook, which she fills with ideas before entrusting to a master craftsperson. She guides them through the making process, fascinated by the versatility, malleability and shine of glass – plus, she has a particular affinity for the strength and shock-resistance of borosilicate. The nature-inspired artwork she ends up with is a contemporary take on classic Venetian style, capturing the special synergy between mind and hand. Call it what it is – this is utopia for the table.
