Seoul-based Jeonge... Seoul-based Jeongeun Kang founded Vonz to make everyday objects more meaningful. Her work sits at the intersection between old and new, blending a contemporary way of living with traditional Korean craft. Since 2018, she’s concentrated on the combination of Ottchil – a Korean lacquering technique that uses organic sap from the rhus tree – and glass, while also experimenting with tactility by mixing tofu with modern industrial by-products such as sawdust and ceramic powder. Her handmade pieces are created with professional technicians from small-scale workshops in Korea and possess an authentic beauty inspired by landscapes she’s encountered on her travels.
