Danish designer Bent Gabrielsen hadn’t intended to go into jewelry creation; in fact, he’d been set on becoming a carpenter. Happily, fate intervened when he was apprenticed to a goldsmith and after going on to study jewelry design at a legendary Danish school, he developed his signature style—one heavily influenced by the shape of a boomerang and similar curved forms. This torque necklace subtly demonstrates his penchant for undulating silhouettes but also his mastery of texture, with the 14-karat gold hammered into varying finishes that both reflect and rebuff the light.
