Jaejin Choi cherishes the old in order to create something new, finding endless beauty in things that have been around for decades. This set of kitchen spoons and utensils is the perfect example, with each one handcrafted out of a solid piece of birch wood. They all have their own purpose – use the spoons for cooking and serving jam, scooping coffee grounds and stirring your hot drink of choice, and the cake slice for serving sweet treats.

Based in Gyeongsan, South Korea, real-life tree studio Jaejin Choi creates handcrafted wooden items that are thoughtful and purposeful, but also a delight to see and hold. Each kitchen utensil is hand-carved using chisels and carefully chipped into smooth, minimalist forms that’ll make light work of cooking and serving. They’re finished with small-but-significant details that are added with functionality in mind, like hand-chiselled patterns and natural beeswax applications – something that helps to enhance the unique grain and characteristics of each wood.
