Corrado Martens, known as Dino, was born and raised in Venice, and rubbed shoulders with a number of esteemed glassmakers over his lifetime – including Aureliano Toso, of whom he was art director from 1939 to 1963. See his experimental eye at work in this vase from the 1950s. Alternating ribbons of white and ruby glass spiral fluidly around the form, created through the intricate ‘mezza filigrana bianca nera’ technique.
