Poglia is the realization of designer Max Poglia’s vision to create kitchen accessories that connect the user to simpler times, when cooking felt primal and knives were crafted with care. Having spent his early life in Brazil, Italy, and NYC, Poglia’s inspirations are legion and include a deep reverence for aesthetics, curiosity about ancient craftsmanship, and the meaning of modern masculinity. The workshop’s small-batch knives and other items pass through eight pairs of hands during their creation, and classic stainless steel is eschewed in favor of repurposed steel and organic materials such as bone and horn. These hand-forged blades develop a natural patina that evolves with age to give each piece unique character.
