Born on and named after the Venetian glassmaking island of Murano, murrina is a highly skilled technique that artisans have been perfecting as far back as the Renaissance. The decorative practice involves creating a patterned glass rod or “cane” with a specific design. The canes are then sliced into cross-sections and used to adorn other pieces.
