Valérie Lavaure hand-weaves beautiful baskets from her studio in a remote forest hideaway outside Uzès, France. She discovered her love for basketry during the early 2000s while watching an expert weaver at work; ever since, she’s explored her passion by working with specialists across various establishments, from the Vannerie de Villaines cooperative to the Fayl-Billot school. Today, she looks to fellow artisans and established traditions for inspiration, taking purpose-built designs – like asparagus and strawberry baskets – and putting a multi-functional spin on them.
