Story

Isabella Kullmann developed her distinctive process while researching at the Royal College of Art, replacing traditional furnace glass with industrially produced float glass. Each vase begins as precisely waterjet-cut components, which are stacked and fused before being reheated and worked hot. Heat, gravity, centrifugal force and the breath of the glassblower then guide the material into its final form, bringing digital precision into dialogue with traditional hot-glass techniques. Individually numbered, each piece captures the tension between careful construction and the unpredictability of the making process.

Maker

London-based glass artist Isabella Kullmann works at the intersection of precision and instinct, treating her material as both responsive and unpredictable. Her path—spanning art history studies in Paris, a career in journalism and publishing, and an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the RCA—brings a narrative sensibility to her practice. In her hand-blown vases, subtle shifts in thickness and tone reveal the rhythm of making, while a pared-back aesthetic draws attention to light, proportionand form.
