Illusion is at the core of many of Studio Palatin’s designs—unyielding porcelain shaped to resemble crumpled shipping paper, brass transformed into bark via an ancient wax-molding method, and slivers of Japanese paper concertina-folded into structured lampshades. Each limited, handcrafted collection of bronze table lamps is the vision of Austrian designer Barbara Palatin-Doyle, who brings her passion for 17th- and 18th-century decorative splendor and traditional craft techniques to the worktable in her Vienna studio.
