There are many chapters in the story of Venini, but one of the most notable is told in collaboration with architectural powerhouse Gio Ponti. Their creative liaison is built on stylistic renewal and Italian craftsmanship, which is honoured today in a series of reissues. The Canne series, designed in 1952 for the 26th Venice Biennale, is a burst of exuberance. The technique used involves the juxtaposition of six thin strips of cold-coloured glass, which are fused together and shaped while hot to create the kaleidoscopic effect you see on this vase.
